1. General information about gov.gr
Gov.gr is the new Unified Digital Portal of the public administration for citizens and businesses.
It hosts all the digital services of ministries, agencies, organizations, and independent authorities of the Public Sector that are already available via the internet. It also provides citizens with direct access to new digital services such as responsible declaration, authorization, and e-prescriptions, as well as any new digital service from now on.
Gov.gr is continuously evolving. In its initial phase, it functions as a catalog of electronic services. In its integrated form, it will become the center of digital service, gathering everything you need for your transactions with the government. It will be the one and only contact point for citizens and businesses with the public administration.
2. All services in one place
In today's reality, all the provided services are offered through distinct pages of various entities. As a result, the overall services are fragmented. While many services are well-executed, they remain unknown to the general public or are difficult to find. The provided services follow different philosophies, appearances, and functionalities (user experience) and do not ensure the uniformity required in the relationship between citizens or businesses and the public administration.
In its full evolution, gov.gr will become the sole digital point of contact for citizens and businesses with the public administration, where all solutions and essential information for citizens and businesses engaging with the government will be centralized.
It will function as the common "front desk" of public electronic services, which will continue to operate under the supervision and responsibility of the respective service providers. Consequently, the implementation of gov.gr aims to facilitate citizens and stakeholders in accessing all government-provided electronic services with uniformity and security.

3. Approach and organization
Gov.gr significantly contributes to changing the relationship between the state and its citizens and reshapes the philosophy of public administration. This transformation will be immediately noticeable and will enhance everyday interactions at all levels between citizens, businesses, and the public sector.
Gov.gr follows a citizen-centric approach, and services are categorized based on life events, the actual needs of citizens and businesses, rather than the inward-looking perspective of the entities. The aim is for citizens to find any desired service within up to 3 clicks.
Additionally, there is a secondary classification of services based on the organizational structure of the entities providing or supporting them, to facilitate those who already know the specific entity.
Moreover, direct search functionality is provided for quick service discovery using free-text search, much like how an individual searches for anything they desire on Google or other search engines or websites. For greater convenience, citizens are assisted with auto-complete and filter options for search results.
Finally, at the top of gov.gr, selected current or popular services are presented for faster access.
4. Unified and robust authentication
In today's reality, for accessing an online service, different authentication methods apply, often requiring repeated submission of the same information or the use of discrete numbers and codes.
The design and functionality of gov.gr in its complete form will ensure a unified user experience and common authentication. In this context, gov.gr will incorporate the new National Authentication System as it evolves. The new system will offer enhanced security levels, unified authentication, and a variety of additional and modern options for greater convenience for citizens and businesses.
In the initial phase, each service will retain its own authentication system while redirecting citizens/businesses to the respective provider's website.
5. Transition to the Unified Digital Portal
Open a web browser (e.g., Chrome, Mozilla, Opera, Edge, etc.) and type the following address in the address bar: https://www.gov.gr/

Next, navigate to the homepage of the Unified Digital Portal.
Additionally, if you are already using a specific new digital service of gov.gr (e.g., like the present one), you can switch to gov.gr by selecting its logo in the top left corner, just before the name of the respective service.

6. Reference to legislation
The operation of the Unified Digital Portal gov.gr was established by Law No. 4635/2019 in the autumn of 2019.
As defined, among others, in paragraphs 1 and 2 of Article 52,
The Unified Digital Portal of Public Administration, with the address gov.gr, is established, and its productive operation, as well as technological development and support, fall under the responsibility of the General Secretariat of Information Systems of Public Administration, Ministry of Digital Governance. The Unified Digital Portal constitutes the central point for the provision of electronic digital services, which are mandatorily aggregated from all entities of the central government.
7. Expected benefits
Digital Transformation of the State for Citizen Service
The desired goal is for every citizen and business to have access to all the services provided by the public administration through a single Portal, gov.gr.
The success of gov.gr will cultivate citizens' trust in services in general and particularly in the digital services offered. Citizens will feel like valued entities, become participants in modernization efforts, and become more familiar with the automated processes that are gaining ground in their everyday lives.
The absolute priority is to change the relationship between the state and the citizen and to change the philosophy of public administration. This change will be immediately noticeable by citizens and businesses and will improve their daily interactions with the public sector.
Alongside other changes promoted by the Ministry of Digital Governance, citizens and businesses will no longer act as intermediaries for documents on behalf of the government. They will have full access to any service, either through their computers or mobile devices via gov.gr, or by physically visiting the Citizen Service Centers (ΚΕΠ) in their neighborhood.
