1. Accessibility
The gov.gr website can be configured to be accessible and supports the international WCAG 2.1 AA standard.
The accessibility feature can be activated using the tool located at the bottom right of every page on gov.gr.
The accessibility tool offers a wide range of functions that you can combine to match and meet your individual accessibility needs. Each of these functions can be enabled, disabled, or adjusted to an intermediate value. The settings you make are automatically saved and will be applied automatically the next time you visit gov.gr.
2. Accessibility Menu
By pressing the button, the citizen enters the Accessibility Menu provided by Gov.gr to facilitate easy access to its services according to each individual's specific needs.
As the first choice (1), the language selection is defined. By pressing the button, the citizen can change the language of the Menu.
Next, by selecting the "Accessibility Profiles" button (2), customization options for the Gov.gr environment are displayed based on each citizen's specific needs.
Choosing the "Oversized Widget" button (3) allows the citizen to enlarge the scale of the Accessibility Menu.
Following these are the functions of the Accessibility Menu (4), which can be individually configured by the citizen as desired.
Finally, by pressing button (5), the Accessibility Menu options are reset to their initial settings.
Accessibility Profile
By selecting the arrow, various accessibility profiles are displayed to the citizen based on their specific needs.
Choosing one of these profiles directly configures the environment to the most suitable conditions for that particular case.
For example, by selecting the "Blind" button, the "Read Aloud" mode is automatically activated.
In the next section, individual functions are presented one by one.
3. Functions
Screen Reader
It provides immediate restoration of all inaccessible elements into accessible ones, with keyboard navigation capabilities. Critical for those relying on assistive technology.
Contrast
Screen reader integrated. Enable it to hear the content.
Bigger Text
It increases the text size through four different levels, making every part of the website more legible.
Pause Animations
It pauses animated images, flashes, and content that can distract attention and potentially trigger epileptic seizures.
Tooltips
It displays alternative text labels for on-screen elements when you hover your mouse over them. The tooltips are clear, have high contrast, and are easily readable for users with low vision.
Dyslexia Friendly
It converts stylized fonts into accessible fonts, which is essential for individuals with visual impairments or users with dyslexia who may find regular fonts confusing.
Highlight Links
It emphasizes links, buttons, and actionable elements with clear, high-contrast colors that are easy to identify. It highlights clickable elements for easier usability, navigation, and overall website accessibility.
Cursor
It increases the default cursor size by 400% to ensure that the cursor remains visible at all times. This allows for faster and more accessible navigation through hyperlinks and tabs.
Hide Images
It hides images within the page environment, making it suitable for individuals with attention disorders and those prone to epileptic seizures.
Smart contrast
Dynamic functionality where it applies strong underlining when entering a new level.
Text Align
It allows users to modify alignment according to their preference through four functions (left-align, right-align, center-align, and full-width alignment).
Line Height
It modifies the text spacing for improved readability for dyslexic users and individuals with visual impairments. It offers three degrees of adjustments for a personalized and more accessible reading experience.

It removes all colors on the page, which is an essential accessibility feature that helps users with color blindness, tritanopia, and other forms of achromatopsia to better distinguish the content.
Page Structure
It quickly reveals page headers, landmarks, and links in a clear, structured, easy-to-navigate, and accessible manner. It assists both individuals with disabilities and those without disabilities in finding the content they desire more efficiently.
