1. Generally

Through the Citizens' Guide you can access all the necessary information about your rights and obligations in the EU, avoiding hassles and red tape.

In the Your Europe portal citizens' guide you will find answers to essential questions such as:

  • Do I have to declare that I live abroad?
  • How can I recognize my professional qualifications?
  • Will my health insurance cover me abroad?
  • Where do I have to pay income tax?
  • Can my family follow me to the host country?

The Your Europe portal gives you access to:

  • Accurate and up-to-date information on EU and national rules and obligations
  • Information about administrative procedures and the steps required to comply with them
  • Support services managed by EU or national authorities that are best suited to provide personalized advice
  • A user feedback tool to report problems or obstacles encountered in the portal or other digital resources provided by EU and national public administrations. This helps to improve the quality of information and services
  • Information in 23 EU languages

To find the subject you are interested in, you can use the search tool or simply navigate through the different subject sections as shown in the image below.



2. Example - traveling with a pet

I am interested in traveling to another European country and taking my dog with me. How can I learn more?

If you plan to travel to another European country and take your dog with you, you need to follow certain rules.

Step 1

First enter the guide to Living and traveling in Europe on the Your Europe portal.

 

Step 2

Find the topic that interests you.

Travel > What can you take with you? > Travel with pets and other animals in the EU

 

Step 3
On the topic page you will find information about Traveling with pets and other animals in the EU

 

Step 4

Some information is different depending on the country of origin. Select the country you are traveling from to find specialized information.

3. Example - work in another European country

If you plan to work in another European country you need to be informed about it.
